THE USE OF DOWSING IN HYPNOSIS

Dowsing is a way we can connect our natural intuitive capabilities with an outside tool to achieve a physical signal. We can use this signal for many purposes. The most common known use of dowsing has been for finding water. In the practice of hypnosis dowsing is often used as a method of facilitating subconscious questioning. The simple forked stick–quite often made of apple wood or willow (or any green pliable forked wood) will work. the word "divining" is used more commonly in England. Dowsing has been used to find oil, minerals, lost items, and even answers to common everyday questions.

FOUR TYPES OF DOWSING "RODS"

Pendulum

(Good for yes & no).

Bobbers

Heavier at end. Hold at lighter end so it bobs. A fishing pole will work (no reel).

(Good for judging depth).

"Y" rods

Make sure it’s a "Y" and not one branch at right angles. Can be a coat hanger or plastic.

(Good for locating a specific point).

"L" rods

Can be coat hangers and straws.

(Good for determining the direction of flow).

(A fifth type of dowsing is as simple as using your arm and hand).

Pendulum

A pendulum is a balanced weight on the end of a cord or string. It can be made of quartz, crystal or wood–heavy or pointed.

Hold the pendulum loosely in whichever hand is most comfortable for you. I generally hold it with the string or chain draped over my index finger and anchored with my thumb. Some people like to utilize the same movement to represent the same answer every time, while others like to test the pendulum’s responses each time they use it, in case they have subconsciously decided to interpret the responses differently this time. If you wish to utilize the above drawing, simply hold the pendulum over the center of the cross hairs after determining how you will interpret the pendulum’s movement, and ask your question. It is not necessary to attempt to make you hand rigid, nor is it necessary to attempt to influence the movement of the pendulum. It will move naturally within a short period of time.

Keep in mind that if the pendulum is revealing any information, it is information that is being forth from either our subconscious, or the "collective unconscious."
